I recently had someone close to me tell me that I wouldn' t love a foster child like I would love my own. I think it depends on the person and how big their heart is. With a child, and particularly a child who has experienced being removed from a birth family, there can be no parenting in half-measures. I think an unacknowledged reality of foster-parenting is that of you do it right, there is the very real possibility that you will end up hurting. It is part of putting a child's needs first.
